Dr. Inzucchi received his undergraduate degree from Fordham University in the Bronx, NY and his MD degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and his post-doctoral Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism at Yale-New Haven Hospital, in New Haven, CT. He is currently Professor of Medicine at the Yale University School of Medicine, where he serves as Clinical Director of the Section of Endocrinology and Program Director of the Endocrinology & Metabolism Fellowship. Dr. Inzucchi is currently Attending Physician at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he serves as Director of the Yale Diabetes Center.

Dr. Inzucchi has been an invited lecturer both nationally and internationally on a variety of topics, including diabetes, lipid disorders and pituitary disease. He has authored or co-authored more than 150 manuscripts, textbook chapters, and abstracts, with some of these published in the foremost medical journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of the American Medical Association. His practical booklet on diabetes management, “The Yale Diabetes Center Diabetes Facts & Guidelines” has an annual circulation in excess of 50,000 copies. He has also served on numerous advisory boards for professional organizations and the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr. Inzucchi’s current research interests include the connection between type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular complications; the evaluation of the asymptomatic diabetic patient for coronary artery disease; and the inpatient management of hyperglycemia.
