Joan K. Bardsley, R.N., MBA, CDE
Joan K. Bardsley, R.N., MBA, C.D.E., is the Assistant Vice President for Scientific Affairs Administration at the MedStar Research Institute in Washington, D.C. She was formerly the Administrative Director of the Clinical Research Center for MRI, an out patient clinical research center that focuses on diabetes and women’s health research. She has over 25 years experience in diabetes education.
Ms. Bardsley is a member of the American Diabetes Association (ADA), receiving both the Protas Award for Outstanding Services at the affiliate level, and the Moss Award for Outstanding Service at the chapter level. Ms. Bardsley is a member of the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) and serves as chair elect of the Board of Trustees AADE Education and Research Foundation. She is currently on the research committee and has chaired the annual meeting program committee as well served on national nominating committee for AADE.
Ms Bardsley has served on the editorial board of the ADA’s Diabetes Spectrum as well as the planning committee for the education track of the Scientific Sessions.
Ms. Bardsley received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where she graduated Cum Laude. She then earned her Master’s of Business Administration degree in Marketing and Organizational Behavior from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
